ADAPTIVE RE-USE / MARKET RATE HOUSING

The historic Spencer's Mill complex has a long association with Mt. Airy's tobacco and textile industries. As those industries declined, they left a void in the area and the buildings went into disrepair.

As part of a new development plan, a 1905 three-story leaf house and four adjacent historic structures were converted into a mixed-use residential project.

While maintaining the historic character of the buildings, Rowhouse added fifteen residential units and 5,000 square feet of retail space as part of the adaptive re-use of the former industrial buildings.
