    Jeff Dalton

    FOUNDER | PRESIDENT

    Hometown: Asheville

    Architecture School? Georgia Tech, Master of Architecture and Master of City Planning.

    When did you know you wanted to be an architect? Six years old when I built my first tree house with my brother.

    What’s your favorite thing(s) to do in your down time? Practice yoga, ride my bike, listen to music and watch the sunset.

    Do you have kids? Two daughters. Pets? One dog per daughter.

    Favorite Asheville restaurant? There are so many great restaurants, Chai Pani and Bouchon are at the top of the list.

    Winter, summer, spring or fall? All of the above.

    Best trip you’ve ever taken? Taking the Orient Express from Paris to Venice.

    An example of a building you consider outstanding architecture? There are so many, locally the Grove Arcade, farther afield The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.

    Any guilty pleasure TV you watch when you want to completely veg out? No guilt, I love to watch professional cycling events like the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta Espana.

    What’s one thing people who know you would be surprised to learn about you? I went to school and lived in Paris when I was 22 years old.

    Favorite Rowhouse project you’ve worked on? All of them. Even the hardest, most difficult projects are valuable and worthwhile endeavors. If I had to pick one it would be the Grove Arcade renovation where we had the perfect combination of an experienced contractor, great subcontractors and engineers, a really smart and savvy developer, and an incredibly beautiful building that needed a lot of love, care and attention.

    Hometown: Grundy, VA

    Architecture School? Virginia Tech

    When did you know you wanted to be an architect? When my parents wouldn't send me to college if I majored in English. But, later on, when I was working in Chicago at Weese Langely Weese, I got to work on a shelter for abused women. At the opening, a woman with tears in her eyes told the room full of people how much this was going to change her life. I was humbled and so honored to be a part of that, and wanted to do it again.

    What’s your favorite thing(s) to do in your down time? Snack. Run. Read. Play games over wine with Ricardo and hang out with my girl friends.

    Do you have kids? Pets? Two cats. Tank and Reggie.

    Favorite Asheville restaurant? Posana

    Winter, summer, spring or fall? FALL

    Best trip you’ve ever taken? Spain last September for my 50th birthday.

    An example of a building you consider outstanding architecture? I love the Jackson Building and the Grove Arcade. I also really love buildings like the UJ in West Asheville.

    Any guilty pleasure TV you watch when you want to completely veg out? The Great British Baking Show.

    What’s one thing people who know you would be surprised to learn about you    ? As clumsy as I am, I used to run hurdles in high school.

    Favorite Rowhouse project you’ve worked on? Asheboro Mill Lofts.

    DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION AND QC

    Hometown: Charleston, SC

    Architecture School? Clemson University (Undergrad and Grad school).

    When did you know you wanted to be an architect? Fourth grade career day, haven't looked back since.

    What’s your favorite thing(s) to do in your down time?     Smoke meat, rugby, attend any Clemson sporting event with my wife.

    Do you have kids? Pets? Our two German Shepherds (Bowman and Tillman) are both our kids and pets.

    Favorite Asheville restaurant? Limones.

    Winter, summer, spring or fall? Spring

    Best trip you’ve ever taken? Two and a half week trip exploring Ireland with just my wife and me.

    An example of a building you consider outstanding architecture? Favorite building in Asheville, Jackson Building.

    Any guilty pleasure TV you watch when you want to completely veg out? Top Chef.

    What’s one thing people who know you would be surprised to learn about you? Not sure; anyone that actually knows me, probably knows everything!
